We Party In Our Pjs :)

We Party In Our Pjs :)

Well hey there!

Happy Tuesday to everyone!  I hope that you’ve had a great day. :)

My day was filled with a whole lot of sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping.  The reason for that would be…Vicodin.  And the reason for the Vicodin would be my back.

Let me just catch you up on the weekend as a whole.  :)

Saturday was a BLAST.  Everyone else got to Megan’s at various points throughout the afternoon and we basically spent the day lounging around, showering, eating and getting ready for Shrimpfest.  It was so great for everyone to be together and to have a few hours to catch up before the night began!   Around 5, we headed to Shrimpfest and, with the exception of a few first timers, most of us were pretty seasoned “shrimpfesters” and knew exactly what needed to be done right when we got there.  We all streamed in, washed our hands and immediately got to work preparing the salads.  The salads were really the only things that we had to prepare, so after they were finished we had about 30 minutes to figure out who had what tables and to prepare the first timers for what the night had in store.  Once the clock struck 6:30 it was game time.  We took out salads, bread, shrimp cocktail, scampi, fried shrimp, beef tips and taters, one at a time and then kept bringing our tables more food until they were stuffed to the brim.

Shrimpfest!

Once everyone was fed and content, we headed back into the kitchen to eat while the auction began in the main room.  We all ate SO MUCH FOOD and it was absolutely delicious.  Holy cow.  When I told you before that Shrimpfest is the best weekend of the year, even better than Christmas; I wasn’t fibbing in the least.  It is absolutely the best food in the world.

Everyone enjoying tons of delicious Shrimpfest food!

My favorite thing each year is the beef tips, which is odd because it’s Shrimpfest (you would think I would choose the shrimp), but I am definitely more of a beef girl haha.  I think it’s because I don’t eat it very often, so when I do it’s even more delicious!  Matt was a fan of the beef tips as well…

Apparently we are like animals and don't use utensils..

I’m pretty sure that I mentioned this in last nights post, but in case I didn’t; during the auction a little baby puppy was up for grabs and Fernando got him!!!!  Right when we arrived and saw the puppy, Katy fell in love with it and Fern knew that he needed to make his wifey happy.  That’s a good man right there. :)  After the auction portion, eating some more and cleaning everything up, we all headed back to Megan’s to hang out in the shed/ barn thing for the night.  It was freezing outside, but with a propane heater, some good tunes and tons of dancing; we managed to stay nice and warm for the remainder of the night.  And now is the part of the night where you get to hear about my back!  Yahoo.  :)

See, we are more of a “party in our pj’s” group of friends than a “stay dressed up and look as hot as you can” group.  It literally didn’t take more than three seconds upon arriving back home for all of us to be changed out of our cute outfits and into pj’s and slippers (in my case).  Well, at one point in the night (around 1am), I ran inside to grab a brownie because I was hungry (how?  I have no idea, but I was).  Well, upon running back into the shed (it was FREEZING outside), I guess I was running a little too fast in slipper shoes that had no traction on the smooth concrete surface and I fell backwards into the sharp edge of the John Deere tractor scoop that was behind me.  I initially hit my lower back right on the spine, and it scraped up to bra line.  See, I’m usually pretty tough about getting hurt and have the ability to brush things off right away, but luckily my friends know me well enough to know when I’m really hurt.  Hil took me inside first to look at it and find Neosporin,  but all we could find was athletes foot cream which provided some comical relief.  After a little bit Matt took me back in and we finally found some ointment, got it doctored up and grabbed some ice before heading back to the shed.   It was pretty swollen and I didn’t really sleep, but I figured that it would be that way, so I sucked it up and didn’t really say much.

By the morning however, it was REALLY bad and my stomach was also in a lot of pain.  We all kind of bummed around, ate breakfast and lunch and then people began leaving to head to their respective homes.  Matt, Ash, Jess and I were among the last few to leave and Matt was kind enough to lend me his new hoodie that he received for Christmas because he knew I was feeling crappy and a tight shirt would have irritated my back on the long car ride.  Jess was driving back to Nebraska, but would be on highway 70 until our exit, so Ashley rode with her to keep her company and Matt and I planned on just meeting them at the exit to get Ash when we arrived there.  We decided to stop in Columbia for Ashley to find a black dress, and by this point I was getting pretty pale and feeling pretty sick, so once we finally got on the road around 4, I was getting worried that something was wrong.  I didn’t say anything to Matt because I hate complaining, but let me just say that riding in the car for an hour and a half with a hurt back and nausea that got worse by the second is not anything I would wish upon ANYONE.  EVER.  Eventually, Matt asked if I was feeling ok (knowing full well that if I wasn’t) and I told him how sick I felt.  By the time we reached the exit, we had about 20 minutes to wait for Ash and Jess, and that 20 minutes was the beginning of quite a night.  I got sick at the gas station and Matt proposed the idea of going to the hospital because he was really worried.  Normally, I would have automatically said no because I’m stubborn, but after talking with him, Ash and Jess, I realized that maybe it wasn’t a bad idea.  Long story short, it was a long night in the ER, but luckily Matt and Ash stuck with me the whole time.  I cannot express how thankful I am for them.  Seriously.  I don’t think I have ever been that sick, or gross looking, or thrown up so much, or just, yeah.  I was really gross.  And I was in Matt’s new hoodie.  And I just felt so terrible, but they were total troopers and brought tons of support, care and comical relief throughout the night.  I kept apologizing for how long things were taking, but Ash didn’t mind because she had her Kindle Fire and was able to watch Mrs. Doubtfire on it haha, and Matt was keeping busy texting my family updates, and diagnosing me via Web Md.  Ha!  After all of the tests though, things pretty much checked out ok.  The doctors prescribed me pain medicine for my back and said that that stomach issues could have been a flu that I coincidentally picked up at the same time that I fell?  We were all a little skeptical of this, but they said that if it was still bad in a few days to go back in for more tests.

Here’s a few funny photos I found that express my appreciation/ friendship with Matt and Ash after that night:

I'm pretty sure that after a few hours at the hospital, my sick smell was the only thing keeping them awake. :)

So there it is.  That’s the story!  I will keep you all posted on how things go, but I’m starting to feel a bit better and I was able to stomach some real food today, so I’m hoping that this will all pass and heal in the next few days.  No working out for the week though.  At least no running.  This back can’t handle it.  :(  Speaking of working out though… I have an exciting announcement, but this post is entirely too long, so I will post about it in the morning.  :)

Sleep, Sleep and More Sleep

Hi there!

This is going to be an incredibly short post due to the fact that I am currently in bed and doped up on pain killers (which I will explain all about tomorrow), but here’s a quick recap of the weekend in pictures.  Stories will come in tomorrow morning’s post! :)

The boys :)

Everyone enjoying tons of delicious Shrimpfest food!

Haha I didn't even know that someone took a picture of this, but it's on my camera. The beef tips were my favorite food of the night haha

Matty Matt

And the best part of the whole night?  Fernando ended up bidding in the auction and winning the puppy for him and Katy to take home!!! Needless to say, our whole group of friends had the best night bringing the puppy back to Megan’s and playing with it until we all left yesterday.

Well, the painkillers are making me pretty loopy and sleepy, so I’m going to get to sleep… again.  I slept until 11 this morning.. went back to bed at 1:45 and slept until 6.  And now it’s time for more sleep.  I have lots to catch you up on tomorrow and some exciting news! :)

Things I’m Thankful For Today:

-A great group of friends who have really changed my life

-Ashley Gardner for constantly making me laugh

-Vicodin
