When Food is Colorful

Standard

Hi there!!

I’m so sorry for not posting yesterday, but this whole transitioning into work and classes thing is a little busier than I had anticipated.  I can say, however, that this new schedule is being welcomed into my life with open arms.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love having a break every once in awhile, but an entire month is pretty extensive.  I’m one of those weird people who genuinely enjoys being busy.   I won’t go into huge detail because not very much happened that’s worth writing about, but my workout was INCREDIBLE and therefore deserves a mention. :)

Yesterday’s workout looked like this:

Cardio:

Disclaimer: you will smell really bad after this run.

Weights/ Resistance:

Arms:

Bicep Curls- 10lb weight, 20 reps (x2)

Tricep Dips- 15 dips (x2)

Shoulders- 10lb weight, 10 reps (x2)

Legs:

Victoria’s Secret Leg and Butt Workout

Abs:

Side dips- 35lb plate, 15 per side (x3)

Jackknives- 25

Side plank dips- 25 per side

Leg lifts- 25

I would give this workout an A+++ because I woke up this morning feeling like I’d been run over by a train.  Good sign! :)

I also had a little pinspiration :)

Moving on.  Today has been great!! After a month of Christmas cookies, candy and lots of crappy (but DELICIOUS) food, this body is ecstatic to get back to it’s normal meals.  Lots and LOTS of color today!  I feel like the more color you see on your plate, the better your meal is.  Now, I don’t mean skittles, star-burst, or any of those other crazy colorful candies.  Instead, I mean lots and lots of veggies, fruits, and lean protein!

Breakfast this morning began with a grapefruit sprinkled with Splenda:

Perfectly ripe!

I picked up a few grapefruit while perusing around at Aldi the other day because #1- they were huge and looked so juicy, and #2- they were only 29 cents!!!  This is ridiculously cheap considering Walmart (who claims to have the best prices) has these bad boys marked at 79 cents.  Thank you Aldi for being awesome.  I finished up breakfast with a Greek yogurt that I mixed with a little Splenda for sweetness and a spoonful of sugar free banana flavored pudding mix.  This was the BEST and packed in 15 grams of protein.  Heck yeah!

I can't believe I DIDN'T like this flavor until now. Crazy girl.

After class, which I will talk about in tonight’s post, I ran to the store to pick up a few things before heading home to throw together a delicious and colorful salad that I’ve been munching away on while typing this post.  Isn’t it beautiful?!  In the mix today was ham, red pepper, pickles and spinach.  I’ve really come to enjoy the deli fresh ham over my usual choice of turkey when it comes to salads.  It seems like the ham just gives it an extra punch of flavor, and I love it!  I paired this salad with an apple, but have yet to eat it because I’m leaving for the gym and fruit typically sits weird on my stomach if I workout directly after eating it.  So, I’m thinking about saving this guy for a post workout snack.

I just love all of the color in this picture!

Time to head to the gym for a good workout before duty starts at 5! :)

Here’s a thought:
