Today’s workout was HARD! Oh my goodness. I didn’t realize just how much arm strength I DON’T have until now. I mean, I’ve always known that my upper half was a little on the weak side, but man oh man.
The workout today was focused on Biceps/ Back which Jamie calls the “bombshell” muscles. So, if it means being a bombshell… I will ABSOLUTELY endure the pain involved. :)
all I can say is that by the time I got to the standing bicep cable curls, I was WORN OUT. I struggled to complete these, but I just kept thinking… “I want to be a bombshell, I want to be a bombshell…” Haha!
Upon arriving home from the gym, I made up a quick post- workout snack of 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese mixed with one heated turkey muffin. One thing that I LOVE about cottage cheese is that you can take it any direction because it really doesn’t taste cheesy. You can mix it with any kind of meat to make it more savory, or throw in some Splenda, cinnamon, peanut butter, apples, jam, or crumbled up protein bars to make it a sweet snack that packs in a huge punch of protein! It took me awhile to figure out how to enjoy eating cottage cheese, but now that I have, expect to see it popping up on here ALL the time! It’s such a healthy and filling snack.
After cooling down, I whipped up another batch of pumpkin protein bar batter! I decided to sprinkle cinnamon and splenda on top of the batter and swirl it in to create a great sweet top layer. It was definitely a good choice!
This picture makes them look a little funky, but once I eat one later I will take a picture of the individual piece and you will see just how wonderful they look! Trust me, they taste incredible! If you’ve ever had a pumpkin muffie/ muffin from Panera, then you know exactly what these babies taste like. Thank you Jamie Eason for creating such a wonderful healthified recipe!! :)
I allowed them to cook a bit longer than the last batch because, as much as I like them a little gooey, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to eat them all by this week, which means that I’ll be taking some with me to Fayetteville and I didn’t want them falling apart on the ride. I also wrapped them (by twos) in saran wrap before stacking them all in the fridge. Good choice? Yes. I can’t wait for Kayla to try these this weekend because I am one hundred and ten percent sure that she will love them. We basically have the twin thing going on (without actually being twins) and tend to love the exact same clothes, foods, movies (all the ones that everyone else hates), etc… It works out perfectly! :)
Well, I put the pan upstairs to cool and decided that I did not feel like cooking tonight. I was super hungry and knew that cooking would take at least 30 minutes, so to avoid eating the whole pan of protein bars as a pseudo dinner; I headed to the dining hall and made up a huge salad. It hit the spot more than you would believe.
The photo makes it look kind of puny, but I promise that it was quite large! I combined spinach, turkey, pickles, red peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes and peas to make a delicious and fresh tasting dinner. Dinner always tastes better when the prep work is done for you!
Well, it’s looking like tonight is going to be a lounge in my bathrobe, finish homework, catch up on shows and read before bed kind of night. The perfect kind to be exact! If you haven’t read the Hunger Games, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read it. It’s just SO good. I can’t even begin to explain. I had a hard time putting it down at 3am to force myself to go to sleep last night. DO IT!
